Description

Indications:

Zopiclone tablets are prescribed to people suffering from transient, recurrent, and chronic insomnia. It is given for the short-term only. As a sleeping pill, it reduces the sleep latency (time required to fall asleep), increases its duration, and reduces awakening in the middle of sleep. Patients taking this drug should employ other non-pharmacological interventions as well to help the drug work better.

Mechanism of Action:

Its action is like benzodiazepine, that is it binds to the benzodiazepine binding site of the GABAA receptor. It specifically binds to the BZ1 subunit. This association causes hyperpolarization of neurons by opening chloride channels and stopping the production of active neuronal impulses.
